West Midland's BOM-V's
Claire Pendrous posted a photo:
This pic was taken in Harborne Lane, Selly Oak, Birmingham on 13th May 1989. The bus is West Midlands Travel, Metrobus number 7006 (BOM 6V), operating on the 11C out circle route (11C=clockwise/11A anti-clockwise) around the City. 2006 was one of two prototype MCW Metrobuses (7006/7) that were fitted with Rolls Royce 'Eagle' diesel engines, rather than the standard 6LXB Gardner engines normally fitted to these vehicles. A further 19 Rolls Royce engined Metro's followed (2226-2245), but because of their heavy fuel consumption and none standard engines, they were the only examples that would be operated by West Midland PTE/Travel. Sadly this Acocks Green based bus was written off in a road traffic accident a year or so later. Happily, sister bus 7007 (BOM 7V) survives in preservation.
